Effective January 11, 2017, current Amazon Rewards Visa Signature Card members with Chase, who are also Amazon Prime members, have been automatically upgraded to the new Amazon Prime Rewards Visa Signature Card, also from Chase. Prime members will now get 5% cashback on all of their Amazon.com purchases made using their Amazon Prime Rewards Visa Signature Card.
Previously, card members (Prime or otherwise) received 3% cashback on Amazon.com purchases. You can still use your old card (a new card is being mailed out to you) for Amazon purchases and receive the new 5% cashback benefit. Another new benefit of the card is that you will no longer be charged foreign transaction fees for purchases made in non-U.S. currency.
This new feature matches the 5% rebate from Amazon’s own store card offered in partnership with Synchrony Bank. Unlike the store card, which can only be used at Amazon.com, the Amazon Prime Rewards Visa Signature Card can be used anywhere that Visa is accepted.
Amazon Prime Rewards Visa Signature Card members will continue to get 2% cashback at restaurants, gas stations, and drugstores and 1% cashback everywhere else. There will still be no annual fee for the credit card, but your Prime membership will continue to cost $99 annually.
For current Prime members who do not hold an Amazon.com credit card, you can apply for the card by going to https://www.amazon.com/Amazon-Prime-Rewards-Visa-Signature/dp/BT00LN946S.
You can see if you’re getting 5% cashback now, by doing the following:
1. Visit amazon.com/youraccount;
2. Click “Manage Payment Options” under the “Payment Methods” section; and
3. Expand the details of your Amazon Rewards Visa Signature Card to see how much you are earning on Amazon.com purchases.
If your Amazon Rewards Visa Signature Card is earning 3% Back on Amazon.com purchases and you have an eligible Prime membership, you can learn how to verify your card and earn 5% Back on Amazon.com purchases.
